Article Directory ? Paintings And Art In The Online World

Time and again, a female resident from Bridgewater has put the marvelous beauty of Shenandoah Valley on canvas. After painting for 36 years of her lifetime, picturing the beauty of mountain ridges and cornfields isn?t her only reason for carrying easel and oils everywhere. More than that, she uses pictures clipped from daily newspapers to paint her masterpieces.

She tells us that the clippings are her way of using black and white again to put back the color, like in the old days. Then she adds that clipping photos of animals and objects also allows her to gather them on a larger scenic painting. She holds up an used newspaper clipping of two millstones and implies that she used it to paint the huge mural on her family room. The grey mill wheels blended into the rustic scene of a millhouse on a riverbank.

She emphasizes that the large wall mural visualizes the parts of her masterpieces, such as how she uses photographs to add detail to her wood land animal paintings, weatherboard buildings, and so on. She said that she only put water. Water is not hard to paint, it goes fast.

Her next painting will be a snow scene, like in the new photo clipping she displayed. For her, painting the snow will not even be a challenge. Quite the irony, she only has one or two smaller paintings and the large mural displayed on her home. According to her, the paintings are all given away or sold right after she finished painting them.

Many a times her paintings are sold to customers of a furniture store in Maryland. The artist is always more than happy to paint for her neighbors and friends. She has got a lot of orders to keep her busy at all times. Most of her customers come around by Christmas, because her paintings are perfect for gifts.

A nice old lady from the neighborhood gave her painting lessons when she was 13, in their home in Rockingham County, Green mount section. A lesson, back then, was only as cheap as 25 cents for every afternoon. She showed a small pallet that her mom made from a lightweight board with a paring knife and a drill. There is a little note about how it was made on the old pallet, which is smeared with paint.

Some six years ago, their church was brought down, but she was able to keep some of the keepsakes on the family room of their house. One entire face of the room was a glass wall, which allows you to see the nearby river as the sun shine filters through the glass. According to the artist, the glass was used in order to allow the natural outdoors inside the house.

She was troubled about finding something that would fit the room as she was making the mural. When she was nearly done with the painting, she had to sand paper it off because the kids didn?t like the colors rust, red and gold, mixing with the foliage. Since other paintings and the sunny den would most likely not get noticed, and that the attention of people will just go the mural, she decided that she would keep her house as it is.
