The?Office on Aging in the County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Concerns will be sponsoring a workshop called "Better Choices...Better Health," (BCBH) which includes six sessions on promoting healthier living that can be achieved when dealing with chronic diseases.
The workshop will begin on July 8th, and people of all ages are encouraged to join in and learn how to incorporate healthier habits into their lives, or the lives of those they know who struggle with chronic diseases.
The information presented in the series includes learning how to implement practical skills related to relaxation, nutrition, communication, medication management, and exercise, to name a few. Participants will also create "action plans" with achievable goals that will help facilitate confidence and the improvements they want to make. They will also receive an audio relaxation CD called Time for Healing, and Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, 3rd Edition.
The workshop only costs $10 for those who are 60 and over, and $35 for participants under 60. Sessions will take place on Fridays from 2-4:30pm, starting on July 8th and ending on August 12th.?The location is Hale Mahaolu Ehiku Community room at 56 Ehiku Street in Kihei.
