AUTOS: Earnhardt Tribute Camaro At Auction
The first of a limited edition of cars that celebrate the late NASCAR champion offered today at Barrett-Jackson.
NASCAR fans should be excited by today?s sale of the No. 1 Limited Edition Dale Earnhardt Hall of Fame Camaro (Lot #668.1) at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas. The Earnhardt Camaro was unveiled April 29, 2010, during Dale Earnhardt Day at Dale Earnhardt, Inc. in North Carolina to celebrate the late champion driver?s induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The specially designed car was autographed that day by Earnhardt?s widow, Teresa Earnhardt; sons Kerry and Dale Jr.; daughter Taylor Earnhardt; grandson Jeffrey Earnhardt; and NASCAR drivers Richard Childress and Chocolate Myers.
The Camaro was purchased in June 2010 by the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower in Las Vegas, where it has been exhibited on the casino floor ever since, along with a collection of Dale Earnhardt racing memorabilia.
?We have been truly honored to house this piece of racing history,? said Michael McNamee, Stratosphere?s vice president of marketing. ?We couldn?t have found a better next step for the No. 1 Dale Earnhardt Hall of Fame Camaro than entrusting ?The World?s Greatest Collector Car Auctions? to get it into the hands of its next proud owner.?
Barrett-Jackson president Steve Davis said the sale shows the close ties between the Scottsdale-based auction house and NASCAR.
?This Camaro will not only add to the Barrett-Jackson experience, but it will provide another opportunity for NASCAR fans and automotive enthusiasts to remember one of the greatest race car drivers of all time,? Davis said. ?Dale Earnhardt had a passion for cars ? the same passion Barrett-Jackson is based on.?
