As the Major League Baseball season heads down its home stretch we can finally focus on America?s new pastime: football. I?ll be covering all sorts of pro and college football app choices for the upcoming season over the next few weeks, but I thought it was important to focus on food first. Everyone knows that?s what counts the most during football season anyway. Consider your tailgate incomplete if you?re not armed with these apps under your mustard belt this season.
For five bucks, Weber?s on the Grill should pretty much grill your steak for you. It doesn?t, but it covers everything else. There are 280 grilling recipes in the app along with 40 more recipes for various marinades and sauces for your meats. If that?s not enough, Weber?s on the Grill has over 100 tips for grilling and instructional videos to ensure you won?t be unprepared when you man the grill on Saturday and Sunday. You can even time your grilling right in the app. Sounds worth it to me.
In a perfect world, everyone would get to be grill master in charge of the major meats. But being part of a large tailgating crew doesn?t give you permission to simply bring a six-pack and call it a day. Instead, check out the Appetizers & Snack Recipes app. With an easy to use interface full of 150 different appetizers, there are at least a few things in here that should appeal to tailgaters of all tastes. As a bonus, you can easily e-mail the recipes to friends directly from the app, so when your fried shrimp rolls are a hit, you can distribute the recipe to all of your best friends right on the spot.
We?re long past the days when tailgating meant a bunch of burly dudes sitting around drinking crappy beers and grilling hot dogs. Now friends and family join together and get their amateur chef on with adventurous grilling techniques. The tailgating evolution doesn?t have to stop at food with the Drinkr: Bartending Guide app. Packed with over 6,000 alcoholic drink recipes, the adults at the party can be sure of a good time. There?s even a quick search: if you shake the app, it will provide you with a random drink recipe so you never get stuck drinking the same old thing.
Whether you call it bags, cornhole, or some other colloquialism, this game is a staple during tailgating. But it involves a lot of counting, and counting isn?t much fun. Enter the free CornScorelio app, which helps keep track of the score of your game. You can have the app set the game-ending score at any number you?d like, and even include a provision to make sure the game doesn?t end until someone wins by two points. Essentially, this app might come in handy after you give that Drinkr app a whirl.
Give your car battery a rest. There?s no need to keep the car radio going when you can fire up the ESPN Radio app and listen to your favorite regional ESPN radio broadcast. The ESPN Radio app also has an on-demand SportsCenter update that refreshes every 20 minutes. If that?s not enough, you can send a text directly to the ESPN radio studios within the app. Get loud, get belligerent! It?s football season again!
