Popular Diets and Stress Management: What Is The Connection ...

Article by Michelle Franco

Are you looking for better diets in the age of stress and obesity? Do you know that most of the stuff that we eat directly contributes to weight gain and adds to the level of stress on the body? Most of the popular fad diets come and go.

A day doesn?t go by that you have not heard about a diet. Some popular diets that are around today and some that have been around for decades include the South Beach, Atkins and Paleo diets.

There are individuals that want to drop a few pounds, some that need to drop a lot of pounds to have a healthy weight and others are on a diet for other health reasons. An important thing is to stay dedicated. You didn?t gain the weight overnight or even in a few weeks in some cases and it will take the same amount of time to lose weight. It is best to stay dedicated to a diet for a month before switching to another option. It will give your body a chance to show results. Usually maintaining a healthy workout routine with nutritional information helps. If you are thinking about the South Beach Diet it deals with replacing bad fats and carbs with good fats and carbs.

This is a diet created to help reduce the onset of heart disease. It is made up of three stages. The South Beach Diet has various food options for each stage. Then there is the Atkins Diet. This is known to be the low carb diet. Finally is the Paleo (Paleolithic) Diet, which may not be as well known by many as the other two diets mentioned. This is also known as the Warrior Diet. It incorporates the foods your body is known to digest well including meat and not grains.

When the body is healthy despite any diet that you prefer, mental and physical stress is less. It is said that those suffering with any of the stress related disorders need to ensure having a healthy balanced diet and stay away from drug and alcohol. Not only do lower stress levels keep the body in better condition, it has been found out that stress is the root cause of numerous illnesses. In the corporate world, stress management has become a crucial aspect of workforce management.

The inter-relationship between popular diets and stress is like two faces of the same coin. One of these cannot exist without another. If you are on a diet but the stress is high, the results may not be as good as it should be. Conversely, if you are happy and not stressed, even without a structured meal plan, you will be in good health. Thus, the cause of the stress needs to be addressed when obesity is discussed. One of the main reasons for obesity is stress related emotional eating disorder. Psychologists and therapist consider tensions and mental pre-occupation with eating or food related thoughts whether it is about consumption of more food or less, directly related to the mood and mental health.
